Police’s Matia Lule takes lessons from Blacks Power setback

Police FC head coach Matia Lule remains steadfast about his team’s championship ambitions despite falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Blacks Power FC at Hoima Stadium.

The Cops started the encounter on the front foot, creating a clear-cut opportunity within the opening five minutes to take control of the match.

However, failure to capitalise on early dominance proved costly as a lacklustre stretch mid-game allowed the host side to gain a foothold in the contest.

Blacks Power seized their moment, converting their single clear chance of the match to claim all three points and hand Lule’s side a frustrating away defeat.

Speaking after the final whistle, a disappointed Lule acknowledged his team’s defensive and offensive lapses while giving credit to the opposition for their efficiency.

“We started well and had a clear-cut chance in the first five minutes. The boys were a bit reluctant, and that affected us so much,” Lule noted.

“We failed to convert our chances while on the other side, the opponent utilised their single chance in the game.”

While losing full points away from home poses a temporary bump in their campaign, Lule stressed that the result will serve as a teaching moment for his squad as they regroup for their upcoming fixtures.

“It’s a disappointing result because we came looking for the three points. Yes, Blacks Power were decent, and we give them credit,” Lule added.

“We shall go back and work on our mistakes. This game has given us lessons; however, we shall do all it takes to ensure that we keep close and contend for the title.”

Police will now return to training to address their bluntness in front of goal ahead of their next fixture, intent on quickly closing the gap at the top of the table.

Police lie sixth on the log with only three points in two games. The Cops will return to action on Thursday, September 10 as they host UPDF at Kira Police Arena.
