Amahoro stadium, Kigali 7pm

Rayon Sport and Gor Mahia will be chasing history when they face off in the Cecafa Kagame Cup 2026 finale at Amahoro stadium, Kigali on Friday.

The two sides have taken many years without tasting victory in the regional club competitions with Rayon Sport now 28 years since they last lifted their only crown in 1998.

For Gor Mahia, they have not added on their three titles since the last triumph in 1985 and have since lost a few finals including 2015 when they fell to Azam 2-0 in Dar es Salaam.

To get here, Rayon Sport have won all their matches including edging Kenya’s Tusker; 1-0, KVZ of Zanzibar 3-0 and Al Hilal 1-0 in the group stages.

In the semis, the Blue and White eliminated South Sudan’s Jamus 3-1 and going into the fixture, they will be slight favourites against K’Ogalo with a packed stadium rallying behind them.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia overcame Al Hilal 8-7 on penalties following a 1-1 in extra time and have only lost to Uganda’s Vipers 1-0 in the group stages in the whole competition so far.

They will fancy their chances against a host nation club after they also overcame APR 5-0 in their opening match at the same venue.

The winner will walk home with a trophy and $ 30,000 with the runners up earning $ 20,000.

In the third place play off worth $ 10,000, Jamus face off with Al Hilal earlier on the day.

Singinda Black Stars, eliminated at the group stages are the current champions.
