Emmanuel Munobi: Lugazi confirms signing of roving right back

Uganda Premier League side, Lugazi Football Club, has officially secured the permanent transfer of exciting right-back Emmanuel Munoobi from third-division side Buikwe Red Stars.

The development has been confirmed today, Thursday, August 6, 2026, via the club’s official website.

“Emmanuel Munoobi has completed a permanent move to Lugazi FC from Buikwe,” the statement partly reads.

The defender has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with The Leaders, marking a major step forward in his promising career.

Munoobi’s journey in competitive football began at Haka Ssoka Academy back in 2014. After delivering a series of eye-catching performances, he was quickly snapped up by Buikwe Red Stars the following year.

Alongside his club football, he refined his talent through top school programs, representing St. Julian High School between 2017 and 2018 before joining St. Mary’s Kitende in 2019.

His rapid rise earned him a move to Vipers SC, where he broke into the first team in December 2019 and remained on their books until 2022.

However, his spell with the Venoms was severely disrupted by persistent knee injuries that kept him sidelined from competitive action for nearly three years.

After successfully treating his knee issues, Munoobi made a triumphant return to action with Buikwe Red Stars in the second round of last season’s Buganda Regional League.

He immediately rediscovered his form, scoring four goals in just nine appearances for the third-division side.

Now fully fit, Munoobi will look to build on that momentum and establish himself as a key figure in Lugazi FC’s backline.
