Kenyan Deputy President Faces Impeachment Threat

Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto is facing a potential impeachment process. Recent corruption revelations and allegations have been at the centre of growing divisions within the party between supporters of the President, Uhuru Kenyatta, and his deputy.

Ruto stands accused of misconduct and violation of the constitution. His opponents claim he has admitted to land grabbing and has provided misleading information relating to the Sh21 billion dam scandal that is currently the subject of a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) investigation.

However, the push to have Ruto impeached has been dismissed by his allies as being politically motivated in nature.
