Kenyan Government Recovered Sh3bn in Corruption
According to Kenyan Attorney General Paul Kihara the government has recovered more than Sh3 billion in graft money over the last two years.
Making the announcement during an anti-money laundering and asset recovery workshop at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi, Kihara reiterated the commitment of President Kenyatta to supporting the fight against corruption, as well as the importance of the efforts of the National Task Force on Anti-Money Laundering. The Attorney General sis on the task force which is chaired by the National Treasury.
Asset Recovery Agency Director Muthoni Kimani also reported that cars, houses and other properties have been seized and at least Sh500 million recovered in the National Youth Service (NYS) case. The case related to the Ministry of Devolution and Planning, with between US$8 million and $100 million allegedly stolen from the ministry’s budget.
