World’s Best Teacher Meets Trump Ahead of UN Address

This year’s Global Teacher Prize winner, a Kenyan teacher named Peter Tabichi, has this week flown to the United States ahead of the UN General Assembly to meet Donald Trump.

The science teacher is set to become the first teacher in the history of Kenya's teaching profession by addressing the 74th session of United Nations General Assembly.

The White House have described Tabichi as an inspiration to Americans and praised his hard work and commitment to his students.

In a photo posted to Twitter, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham noted;

"His dedication, hard work and belief in his students' talent has led his poorly resourced school in Kenya to emerge victorious after taking on the country's best schools in national science competitions,"

Mr Tabichi is a catholic and member of the Franciscan Friars, he has focused his teaching career on helping students from poor backgrounds. The 36-year-old is a teacher at Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School in remote Pwani village of Njoro, Nakuru County.
