Vodacom Tanzania supports WWF Greening Dodoma project, aims to plant 100,000 trees in first year

Vodacom Tanzania Foundation (VTF) has signed a grant agreement with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to provide TZS 303 million towards the Greening Dodoma project. VTF director Rosalynn Mworia said the new project is a result of the foundation's strategic plan 2019/21. Advocating the promotion of climate action for a sustainable environment is one of the strategy's pillars.

The project under the slogan "living in harmony with nature" begins in September in Dodoma and will be implemented in collaboration with the Vice President's Office (environment), The Dodoma City Council and Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS).

WWF Tanzania country director  Amani Ngusaru said the fund will be directed towards supporting the government's efforts toward Greening Dodoma, which aims to plant 100,000 trees in the first year and create a garden in the country's capital city, and increase awareness and social mobilisation for eco-friendly programmes by training women and youth groups in the production and use of alternatives to plastic bags, and waste management, as economic activities.
